Description
My mandala collection began with inspiration from Tibetan Buddhist Thanka paintings and the traditional motifs used to decorate Buddhist temples, particularly in Sri Lankan temples during my time living there. My starting point was lots of drawing and variations of the combinations and designs and sizes. I then handmade my favourites using individual pieces of wire, soldering every joint. For this mandala design, it is difficult using traditional methods so I designed the piece using a 3d design program, which then can be 3d printed in a special detailed wax. This piece is a one off, made by cutting up these mandalas and pairing them with stones from my collection. I make the setting to fit the stone perfectly first, then added the mandala petal detailing, set the stone and polish the piece. Each piece is inspected carefully by me to ensure a fine finish with no casting marks or flaws. They are all stamped with my unique hallmark, SB and metal purity.
